Dmitry Ikonnikov
Dmitry Ikonnikov-Tsipulin was born on January 31, 1952, in Murmansk. He lived and worked in Moscow.
His artistic career began early: in 1969, upon graduating from high school, he started working as a scenic craftsman in the monumental art workshop of the Moscow Regional Combine of Artistic Works, while concurrently attending evening drawing classes at the Surikov Art Institute. From 1972 to 1976, he studied at the Faculty of Art and Graphics of the Lenin Moscow State Pedagogical Institute. In 1976, with the endorsement of the prominent Soviet artist Evgeny Kibrik, he was admitted directly into the second year of the Faculty of Graphics at the Surikov State Academy Art Institute in Moscow, graduating in 1981.
Dmitry Ikonnikov was a member of the Union of Artists of Russia (1998), the Creative Union of Artists of Russia (1995), and the Moscow Union of Artists (2003). He was a corresponding member of the International Academy of Culture and Art (2008), and in 2011, he was elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts (Painting Department).
He passed away on February 27, 2019, at the age of 67.
