Valery Koshlyakov
Born in 1962 in Salsk. He began his artistic training at the railway workers' community center art studio. In 1988, he graduated from the Grekov Rostov Art College. From 1986 to 1989, he worked as a set designer at the Musical Comedy Theatre in Rostov-on-Don.
Since 1988, he has been a member of the Art or Death association. From 1991 to 1993, he worked at the famous "Trekhprudny Lane" studios in Moscow.
Koshlyakov's works have been exhibited at the Louvre (Paris), the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Guggenheim Museums in New York and Bilbao, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome (MACRO), the Centre Pompidou, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. He created monumental paintings for the Russian Lounge at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (USA). A three-time participant in the Venice Biennale, his work is also a staple of major international auctions.
