The world is in eternal motion, forever on a journey... Whether it be a road leading to the far horizon or a path just around the corner, a mundane commute or a grand voyage—travel has become the very heartbeat of modern soul.

The road is our path, and those beside us are our fellow pilgrims.

The project "Along the Way" invites everyone to submerge themselves in the misty atmosphere of their own memories and the echoes of past travels. It calls us to recall that light, fluttering trepidation felt before a great journey. Even the most familiar, daily route from home and back can suddenly overflow with new, startling visions.

On the road, everything shifts with a ghostly swiftness: the sky, the air, the scents, and the inner stirrings of the heart...
Landscapes, both rustic and urban, rush past the window like fleeting dreams. Our gaze is caught by the silent poetry of railway architecture: the grand station houses, the lonely pavilions, the depots, the water towers, and so much more.

"...Swooping past, you see it all from a few fleeting angles-ahead, then full-faced, then you look back and... they have vanished..."
Life outside is a torrent, swift and manifold.
But inside the carriage, time falls into a slumber. And if the way is long, one cannot help but begin to observe their fellow travelers...

The artist and passenger Nadezhda Krestinina possesses a gaze of singular tenderness. In her hands, the "snatched" moments of everyday life are transfigured; realism melts away, blossoming into a voluminous, breathing impressionism.

"What matters is the person and the object at once, as a single piece, glimpsed in passing, on the move-devoid of clinical detail or the rigid trap of a portrait...", the author says.

Krestinina is a master of the subtle. In her shimmering, translucent works, light and color create a feeling of absolute, intuitive song. Hovering on the very edge of the abstract, her creations are nonetheless anchored to a specific time and place. Her characters are not fictions; they are souls met by everyone. Yet an ordinary passenger, bound by the chains of narrative, is seldom capable of looking so deeply into the eyes of a stranger.
Nadezhda Krestinina catches these characters with startling precision and settles them within her works, endowing each with a spirit of their own.

"...But do not stare them down, do not let your eyes meet... past them... and then, in the safety of stillness, recall them. To the impression of a fleeting glance, add your own ponderings, fantasies, and whims-and pin them fast to the paper or the canvas..."

There is a peculiar plasticity to Krestinina’s work-airy yet profound-that fully envelops the viewer. We become fellow travelers to her characters; we see images frozen in the silver of a moment, and it feels as though we are standing there, right beside them.

The project "Along the Way" presents not only the artist's visions but also unique archival treasures from the collection of the Museum of Architecture. Visitors will behold the blueprints of railway history, crafted by the great masters of old, such as A.I. Krakau, I.A. Fomin, V.A. Shchuko, D.M. Strukov, V.K. Oltarzhevsky, I.I. Rerberg, V.T. Shukhov, S.N. Gruzenberg, A.N. Dushkin, N.M. Safonova, G.P. Golts, and A.V. Shchusev. The exhibition unveils sketches of iconic stations and pavilions, as well as the "ghosts" of architecture, the magnificent designs that were never brought to life.

And perhaps, the next time you find yourself on your daily path or a distant journey, this will help you look more closely-with a heart wide open-at the architectural ornaments, the engineering marvels, and the silent buildings that greet us all... along the way.
